Gothic Valentine




Supplies

3 tubes of choice - I used the artwork of PinUpToons and can now be purchased from CDO
Font of Choice - I used CSDesign/Fabrica de ideas here

“Gothic Valentine” is a PTU tagger size scrap kit created by Rieka_Rafita and can be purchased from Heartbeatz Creationz. You can visit her blog here.

This tutorial was written assuming you have a working knowledge of PSP.

~♥~ Let’s get started ~♥~

Open up a 700 x 700 blank canvas.
Flood fill white.

Copy and paste Frame 3 as a new layer.
Resize 40%
Duplicate
Duplicate/Mirror
Move all 3 frames into position - see my tag for reference.

Highlight the top frame.
Use your Freehand Selection Tool and outline the frame - I zoomed right in on the frame for a better view.


Copy and paste Paper 3 as a new layer below the frame. Move into the position where you want.
Selections/Invert
Tap the delete key.
Deselect.

Highlight the left frame.
Repeat the above step accept also copy and paste your tube below the frame.
Tap the delete key.
Deselect.
Apply Xerox - Porcelain effect:
Use Default Settings accept move the Blue Channel button all the way to zero.
Change the Properties to Hard Light.

Highlight the right frame.
Repeat the above step.

Add your embellishments. I used:
Bow 1: Resize 50%
Flower 3: Resize 50%/Free rotate right 55 degrees/Duplicate/Mirror
Steampunk Heart 3: Resize 80%/Duplicate and move behind the right frame - erase what sticks out of the frame that you don’t want.
Sparkle 3

Highlight your white background.
New Raster layer.
Copy and paste Paper 14 Into Selection.
Deselect.
Apply the Mask.
Use your Pick Tool to pull the sides out just a little.
Merge Group.

Add your credits.

Add your name.
In your color pallet:
Foreground: Black
Background: #c21a1d
Stroke: 2
Type out your name.
Convert to Raster layer.
Select All/Float/Defloat
Selections/Modify/Contract by 2
Give it a slight Inner Bevel:


Apply Greg’s Factory Output Vol. II - Pool Shadow:


Deselect.

Time to get the tag ready for animation…

Merge Visible the rose layers.
Duplicate twice for a total of 3 rose layers.
Rename them Rose 1, 2, and 3.
Highlight Rose 1 layer.
Using your Freehand Selection Tool, section out areas of the rose you’d like to see glitter.
Apply DSB Flux - Bright Noise:
Intensity: 24
Mix checked
OK

Highlight Rose 2 layer.
Apply the same effect accept hit the mix button twice.

Highlight Rose 3 layer.
Apply the same effect accept hit the mix button 3 times.
Deselect.

Close out Rose layers 2 and 3.
Keep Rose layer 1 open.
Edit/Copy Merge.

~Time to Animate~

Open up Animation Shop.
Edit/Paste/As New Animation.

Back into PSP.
Close out Rose 1 layer.
Open up Rose 2 layer.
Edit/Copy Merge

Carry into AS.
Edit/Paste/After Current Frame.

Back in PSP.
Close out Rose 2 layer.
Open up Rose 3 layer.
Edit/Copy Merge

Carry Into AS.
Edit/Paste/After Current Frame
You should now have 3 frames.

Ctrl + A to highlight all frames.
Edit/Copy
Highlight the last frame.
Edit/Paste/After Current Frame.

Highlight the last frame.
Edit/Paste/After Current Frame.

Repeat the above step until you have 21 frames.

Highlight Frame 19.
Edit/Copy
Highlight Frame 21.
Edit/Paste/After Current Frame.
You should now have 22 frames.

Open up the Glitter Heart that I supplied.
Ctrl + A to highlight all frames.

Make your tag frames active.
Ctrl + A to highlight all frames.
Ctrl + E
Move your mouse to place your glitter heart. Right click the mouse to set the heart.
View your animation.
If you’re happy then resize:
Animation/Resize Animation
Percentage of Original checked
Width x Height: 80%
OK

Seize the Day

This tutorial was written assuming you have a working knowledge of PSP.

~♥~ Let’s get started ~♥~

Open up a 700 x 700 blank canvas.
Flood fill white.

Copy and paste Embellie 48 as a new layer.
Click inside with your Magic Wand.
Selections/Modify/Expand by 4.
New Raster layer below the frame.
Copy and paste Paper 9 Into Selection.
Deselect.

We’re going to add the embellishments that go below the frame.
Embellie 14
Embellie 40: Resize 60%

Highlight the paper beneath the frame.
Click anywhere outside of it with your Magic Wand.
Highlight each element layer and tap the delete key.
Deselect.

Close out your white canvas.
Merge Visible.
Reopen your white canvas.
Duplicate the merged layer.
Free rotate left 5 degrees.
In your layers pallet move beneath the original.

Copy and paste your tube as a new layer.
Move the two merged layers and your tube into position - see my tag for reference.

Copy and paste Embellie 40 again.
Using your Freehand Selection Tool outline the flowers you want to use to place behind the top of the frame. I used the flowers on the right:


Once you have them outlined, Copy and Paste onto your working canvas.
Move into position - see my tag for reference.
You can duplicate as many times as you like.

Add your embellishments. I used:
Embellie 39
Embellie 36: Resize 60%
Embellie 2: Resize 70%/Mirror
Embellie 25: Resize 70%
Embellie 46: Resize 30%/Free rotate Left 25 degrees/Duplicate/Mirror/Duplicate/Resize 90%
Embellie 3: Resize 40%/Duplicate/Resize 70%
Embellie 5: Resize 40%/Duplciate/Resize 70%
Embellie 4: Resize 40%

Highlight your white background.
New Raster layer.
Copy and paste Paper 12 Into Selection.
Deselect.
Apply the Mask.
Merge Group.

Add your credits.

Add your name.
Give it a slight Inner Bevel:


Resize all layers 80%

Good Night Valentine

This tutorial was written assuming you have a working knowledge of PSP.

~♥~ Let’s get started ~♥~

Open up a 700 x 700 blank canvas.
Flood fill white.

Copy and paste Bread 4 as a new layer.
Copy and paste your tube as a new layer and position to the right of the heart - see my tag for reference.
Move both layers into exact position.
Duplicate the tube layer.
Mirror
Position it over the heart.
Close out both tube layers - will make the next step easier to see.

Using your Freehand Selection Tool, outline the heart just inside the frame of it.
Selection/Invert
Reopen the tube layer that’s just above the heart.
Change the Properties to Multiply.
Tap the delete key.
Selections/Modify/Inside Outside Feather:
Both checked
Feather amount: 33
OK
Tap the delete key a few times.
Deselect.
Merge down.

Add your embellishments. I used:
Flowers 1: Resize 85%/Mirror
Flowers 3: Position behind the heart/Duplicate/Flip
Paper Chain Heart 1: Resize 85%
Bear 2: Resize 50%
Bee 1: Resize 25% and 80%/Duplicate/Mirror

Crop your image.

Highlight your white background.
New Raster layer.
Copy and paste Paper 3 Into Selection.
Deselect.
Apply the Mask.
Merge Group.

Add your credits.

Add your name.

Resize all layers 80%

This tutorial was written assuming you have a working knowledge of PSP.

~♥~ Let’s get started ~♥~

Open up a 700 x 700 blank canvas.
Flood fill white.

Copy and paste Frame as a new layer.
Resize 75%
Click inside of it with your Magic Wand.
Selections/Modify/Expand by 6.
New Raster layer.
Copy and paste Paper 5 Into Selection.
Deselect.

Copy and paste Filmstrip as a new layer.
Resize 90%
Free rotate Right 10 degrees.
Paste the filmstrip again.
Resize 90%
Free rotate Left 15 degrees

Paste your tube as a new layer.
Resize as needed.
Move the Filmstrip frames and tube into exact positions - see my tag for reference.

Highlight the film strip that’s tilted to the left (should be the one in front).
Click inside of each square with your Magic Wand.
Selections/Modify/Expand by 4.
New Raster layer below the frame.
Copy and paste Paper 2 Into Selection.
Deselect.
Copy and paste your tube as a new layer below the frame.
Free rotate Left 15 degrees.
Duplicate 3 times and move a tube below each from opening.
Highlight the Paper layer.
Click anywhere outside of it with your Magic Wand.
Highlight each tube layer and tap the delete key.
Deselect.
Merge Visible the 4 tube layers that are below the frame.
Change the Properties to Multiply.
Duplicate/Change the Properties to Overlay.

Highlight the other Filmstrip frame and repeat the above step accept free rotate your tube Right 10 degrees.

Paste your tube one last time.
Resize as needed and move beneath the circle frame.
Highlight the circle paper.
Click anywhere outside of it with your Magic Wand.
Highlight the tube layer.
Tap the delete key.
Deselect.
Change the Properties to Overlay.

Add your embellishments. I used:
Bow 2: Resize 35%/Duplicate/Mirror
Beads: Duplicate and move to the other side of your canvas.
Chain: Resize 80%
Charm 2: Resize 80%
Sparkles

Highlight your white background.
New Raster layer.
Copy and paste Paper 10 Into Selection.
Deselect.
Apply the Mask.
Merge Group.

Add your credits.

Add your name.

Resize all layers 80%

Open up the template.
Shift + D.
Close out the original.
Delete By Missy layer.
Image/Canvas size 700 x 700
OK
Highlight the background layer.
Flood fill white.

Highlight Dot/Dash Circle layer.
Select All/Float/Defloat
New Raster layer.
Copy and paste Paper 8 Into Selection.
Deselect.
Delete the template layer.

Highlight Circle layer.
Click on it with your Magic Wand.
New Raster layer.
Copy and paste Paper 1 Into Selection.
Deselect.
Delete the template layer.

Copy and paste your tube as a new layer over the circle.
Move into position - don’t worry about what overhangs the circle.
Copy and paste Cross 1 as a new layer.
Resize 50% - move into position - see my tag for reference.
Change the Properties to your tube and cross to Overlay.
Duplicate the tube layer.
Highlight the circle paper layer.
Click anywhere outside of it with your Magic Wand.
Highlight each tube layer and the cross layer and tap the delete key.
Deselect.

Highlight the circle paper layer.
Apply Eyecandy 3.1 - Glow:
Width: 3
Opacity: 100
Opacity Dropoff: fat
Color: White

Highlight Shape 3 layer.
Click on it with your Magic Wand.
New Raster layer.
Copy and paste Paper 3 Into Selection.
Deselect.
Delete the template layer.

Repeat the above step with Shape 2 and Shape 1 layer.

Copy and paste your second tube as a new layer.
Move it into position over the far right square.
Resize as needed.
Highlight the square paper layer.
Click anywhere outside of it with your Magic Wand.
Highlight the tube layer.
Tap the delete key.
Deselect.

Add your embellishments. I used:
Feather 1: Duplicate/Mirror
Star Mess 1: Resize 80%/Mirror
Flower 3: Resize 45%
Flower 6: Resize 35%
Feather Doodle 2: Resize 50%
Doodle 2: Resize 60%
Horse 1: Resize 60%
Butterfly 1: Resize 30%/Free rotate Right 25 degrees
Butterfly 2: Resize 30% and 90%/Free rotate Left 25 degrees

Highlight your white background.
New Raster layer.
Copy and paste Paper 8 Into Selection.
Deselect.
Apply the Mask.
Resize 110%
Merge Group.
Center it more behind the circle.

Add your credits.

Add your name.

Resize all layers 80%

Resize 80%
Click inside each square with your Magic Wand.
Selections/Modify/Expand by 6.
New Raster layer.
Copy and paste Paper 9 Into Selection.
Copy and paste your close up image as a new layer below the frame.
Move into position.
Selections/Invert
Tap the delete key.
Deselect.

Copy and paste your tube as a new layer.

Add your embellishments. I used:
Little Flowers 2: Free rotate left 45 degrees
Little Flowers 1: Free rotate left 35 degrees
Sprinkles 2: Duplicate/Flip/Mirror
Branch 3: Mirror
Feather 2: Resize 50%
Feather 1: Resize 40%/Mirror

Highlight your white background.
New Raster layer.
Copy and paste Paper 3 Into Selection.
Deselect.
Apply the Mask.
Merge Group.
Move it down slightly.

Add your credits.

Add your name.

Resize all layers 80%

Open up the template.
Shift + D.
Close out the original.
Delete the top 3 layera.
Highlight the background layer.

700 x 700
Flood fill white.

Highlight Circle 1 layer.
Click on it with your Magic Wand.
New Raster layer.
Copy and paste Paper 11 Into Selection.
Adjust/Add Remove Noise/Add Noise
Gaussian checked
Noise: 35%
OK
Selections/Modify/Contract by 6
New Raster layer.
Copy and paste Paper 7 Into Selection.
Deselect.
Delete the template layer.


Highlight Circle 2 layer.
Repeat the above steps.

Highlight Diamond layer.
Click on each it with your Magic Wand.
New Raster layer.
Copy and paste Paper 7 Into Selection.
Apply the same noise effect.
Selections/Modify/Contract by 6
New Raster layer.
Copy and paste Paper 8 Into Selection.
Copy and paste your close up image as a new layer over the gold paper layer.
Move into position.
Selections/Invert
Tap the delete key.
Deselect.
Delete the template layer.

Copy and paste your tube as a new layer.

Add your embellishments. I used:
29: Resize 50%/Mirror
12: Resize 40%/Free rotate Left 25 degrees/Duplicate/Mirror/Resize 70%
10: Resize 50%
15
1 & 2: Resize 25%/Duplicate and resize as you like.

Highlight your white background.
New Raster layer.
Select All.
Copy and paste Paper 10 Into Selection.
Deselect.
Copy and paste 18 as a new layer just above the paper - move into position - see my tag for reference.
Merge Down.
Apply the mask.
Merge Group.

Add your credits.

Add your name.
Give it a slight Inner Bevel:


Resize all layers 80%
