Frost Fairy



Supplies Needed

1 tube of choice – I used the beautiful artwork of Janna Prosvirina which can be purchased from Digital Art Heaven.  You must have a license to use. 

Font of choice – I used Dreamer here

Weescotlass Mask 236 here

This tutorial was written assuming you have working knowledge of PSP. 

~~ Let’s get started ~~

Open up a 700 x 700 blank canvas.
Flood fill white.

Copy and paste  el80 as a new layer.
Click inside of it with your Magic Wand.
Selections/Modify/Expand by 15.
New Raster layer below the element.
Copy and paste Paper 10 Into Selection.
Deselect.

Copy and paste el11 as a new layer.
Resize 40%
Duplicate/Resize 80%/Duplicate
Move all 3 frames into their exact position – see my tag for reference.
Merge Visible all 3 frames.
They should all be on the same layer now.
Click inside of each frame with your Magic Wand.
Selections/Modify/Expand by 4.
New Raster layer below the frames.
Copy and paste Paper 25 Into Selection.
Deselect for now.
Copy and paste your tube as a new layer above the merged frame layer.  If you’re using the same tube as I did, use “Tube 4” and resize 70%.  Move into the exact position you want it to be in – see  my tag for reference.
Paste your tube again as a new layer just below the merged frame layer.
Change the Properties of this tube layer to Soft Light and move into position below the largest frame – see my tag for reference.
Highlight the merged frame layer and click inside of only the large frame.
Selections/Modify/Expand by 4.
Selections/Invert
Highlight the tube layer that’s just below the frame and tap the delete key.
Deselect.
Paste your tube again as a new layer just below the merged frame layer.
Change the Properties of it to Soft Light and move into position below the two smaller frames – see my tag for reference.
Highlight the merged frame layer and click inside of both of the smaller frames.
Selections/Modify/Expand by 4.
Selections/Invert
Highlight the tube layer and tap the delete key.
Deselect.

Highlight the merged frame layer.
Apply Eyecandy 5 – Nature: Snow Drift
Settings Tab:
Small, First Flakes

Basic Tab:
 
OK

Add your elements.  I used:
El28:  Resize 45%/Duplicate
El69
El66:  Resize 15%/Duplicate 3x’s for a total of 4.  Place at each corner of largest frame.
El66 (again):  Resize 15% and 80%/Duplicate enough times to place at each corner of the smaller frames.
El100:  Place behind smaller frames and erase the bottom part of the feathers/Duplicate/Resize 70%/Erase bottom part of feathers you can see
El12:  Resize 30%/Duplicate/Mirror/Flip
El78:  Resize 60%/Duplicate/Mirror/Flip
El35:  Resize 40%/Duplicate/Mirror

Add your copyrights.

Add your name:
Color Pallet:
Foreground: #00061e
Background: #618bae
Make your Text Tool active
Set the Stroke Width to 1.
Type your name
Give it a slight Inner Bevel 2x’s:

Highlight your white background.
New Raster layer.
Select All.
Copy and paste Paper 24 Into Selection.
Deselect.
Apply the mask.
Resize 120%
Merge Group.
Duplicate

Close out your white background.
Merge Visible.
Resize 600 pixels.
Save as png.

Winter's Storm

This tutorial was written assuming you have working knowledge of PSP. 

~~ Let’s get started ~~

Open up a 700 x 700 blank canvas.
Flood fill white.

New Raster layer.
Select All.
Copy and paste Paper 20 Into Selection.
New Raster layer.
Copy and paste Paper 10 Into Selection.  Change the Properties to Color (Legacy).
New Raster layer.
Copy and paste Paper 4 Into Selection.  Change the Properties to Color (Legacy).

Close out your white background.
Merge Visible.
Reopen your white background.

Copy, paste, resize, and arrange the following elements onto your canvas.  Remember, this is your tag so do add or remove elements as you like, as well as arrange them however you wish!!
El120
El51:  Duplicate/Resize 40%/Duplicate as many times as you like.  I lowered the Opacity on some to 30 to give it a “far off” look.
El 71
El15:  Resize 40%
El105:  Resize 25%
El102:  Resize 55%
El94:  Resize 35%/Duplicate as many times as you like/mirror as you like

Once you have all your elements on your canvas and all are in position and they all have drop shadows –
Close out your white background.
Merge Visible.
Reopen your white background.
Highlight the merged layer.
Apply Xenofex – Burnt Edges:
Match your settings to mine –

OK

Resize 60% - Rename this layer “Merged 1”
Close this layer out for now.

Highlight your white background layer.
New Raster layer.
Select All.
Copy and paste Paper 20 Into Selection.
Deselect.
Apply the same Burnt effect.
Resize 60%
Free rotate Left 7 degrees.
Click anywhere outside of it with your Magic Wand.
Selections/Invert
New Raster layer.
Copy and paste Paper 21 Into Selection.
Deselect.
Close out your white background layer.
Merge Visible – Rename “Merged 2”.
Move this slightly to the left and up a little.
Open up your other merged layer.
Move both layers into exact position – see my tag for reference.

Highlight “Merged 1” layer.
Click anywhere outside of it with your Magic Wand.
Open up the Snow that I supplied.
Copy and paste each snow layer onto your working canvas, or use the Drag/Drop method (I have a tutorial on that method here).
Once all snow layers are pasted on your working canvas rename them S1, S2, S3, etc.
Highlight each snow layer and tap the delete key.
Deselect.
Close out all snow layers accept for S1.

Copy and paste el80 as a new layer just above your white background layer.
Resize 80%.
Use your Target Tool and change the color to #f2e8f3.

Add the rest of your elements.  I used:
El34:  Resize 50%
El35:  Resize 60%/Duplicate/Mirror
El40:  Duplicate/Duplicate/Mirror/Erase what you don’t want seen
El97:  Resize 40%/Mirror/Erase the inside loop
El106:  Resize 50%

Open up el33.
Shift + D.
Close out the original element.
Make your Selection Tool active set on Rectangle.
In the settings at the top of your program set Feather to 30.
Section out the top half of the element:

Selections/Invert
Tap the delete key.
Deselect.
Copy and paste as a new layer onto your working canvas.
Duplicate/Mirror
Move the mirrored layer behind the rabbit and use the other to place before your name.
If the element seems too tall then tap the letter “K” on your keyboard to activate your pick tool and flatten it out a little.

Don’t forget to change the feather setting of your Rectangle Tool back to 0!
(Or you’ll be pulling your hair out the next time you use it and can’t figure out what’s wrong with it!)

Add your copyrights.

Add your name:
Color Pallet:
Foreground: #ffffff
Background: #a584ae
Make your Text Tool active
Set the Stroke Width to 1.
Type your name
Give it a slight Inner Bevel:

Highlight your white background.
New Raster layer.
Select All.
Copy and paste Paper 11 Into Selection.
Deselect.
Apply the mask.
Merge Group.
Move toward the upper right corner just a little.
Duplicate/Mirror/Flip

Add a snow drift effect to elements of your choice – I used it on my name and the greenery.  You can adjust the snow height to whatever you choose, but here’s my settings:
Settings Tab:
Small, First Flakes

Basic Tab:



Copy Merged.

~Time to Animate~

Open up Animation Shop.
Edit/Paste as New Animation.

Back in PSP.
Close out S1.
Open up S2.
Copy Merged.

Carry into AS.
Edit/Paste/After Current Frame.

Back in PSP.
Close out S2.
Open up S3.
Copy Merged.

Carry into AS.
Edit/Paste/After Current Frame.

Continue doing this until you have all 10 snow layers copied and pasted into AS.

View your animation.
Don’t panic if it’s going backward!  That’s an easy fix…
Ctrl + A to highlight all frames.
Animation/Reverse Frames

If you’re happy with your animation –
Animation/Resize Animation –
Click Pixel Size
Width x Height – 600
OK
Save your animation.

Winter Friend


Supplies Needed

1 tube of choice and 1 image – I used the beautiful artwork of Sally Jacob which can be purchased from My Tubed Art.

This tutorial was written assuming you have working knowledge of PSP. 

~~ Let’s get started ~~

Open up an 800 x 700 blank canvas.
Flood fill white.

Copy and paste Frame 8 as a new layer.
Resize 50%
Duplicate
Resize 90% and Free rotate Right 7 degrees
Duplicate/Mirror

Go ahead and Copy and Paste your tube as a new layer now just so you can move all 3 frames into their exact position – see my tag for reference.  Be sure the largest of the 3 frames is at the top of your layers pallet.
Close out your tube layer for now.

Copy and paste the Background (image) layer of the tube as a new layer just over your white canvas layer.
Rename this layer “Image”.

Working with the largest frame first:
Highlight the frame.
Click inside of it with your Magic Wand.
Selections/Modify/Expand by 4.
Highlight  and move the “Image” layer into a position you like.
Right click on it in your layers pallet and choose “Promote Section to Layer” from the sub menu that appears.
Move the promoted layer just under the large frame.

Repeat the above step with the Right and Left frames.
You can then delete “Image” layer.

Your layer pallet should now be in this order – starting at the top:
Large Frame
Image that belongs to it.
Right Frame.
Image that belongs to it.
Left Frame.
Image that belongs to it.
Your white background layer.

Close out the Image that belongs to the large frame.
Highlight the large frame.
Click inside of it with your Magic Wand.
Selections/Modify/Expand by 4.
Highlight each of the smaller frames and the images that belong to them and tap the delete key on each one.

Merge Visible all the frames.

Merge Visible all the image layers.

Your layers pallet should now consist of 3 layers:
Merged Frame layer.
Merged Images layer.
White background.

Copy and paste Owl as a new layer.
Resize 40%
Move into position beneath the largest frame – see my tag for reference.

Open up the animated snow layers.
Copy and paste each snow layer beneath the merged frame layer (rename each snow layer as you go...S1, S2, S3 etc) or you can use the “drag and drop” method – you can follow a quick tutorial in a tutorial I wrote not long ago here to learn how to do the drag/drop method here.

Once all snow layers are now on your working canvas:
Highlight the merged image layer.
Click anywhere outside of it with your Magic Wand.
Highlight each snow layer and tap the delete key.
Close out all snow layers accept for S1.

Reopen your tube layer.

Add your elements.  I used:
Christmas Pine:  Resize 50%/Mirror
Cone 4:  Resize 20%/Duplicate/Flip
Bulb 3:  Resize 35%
Bow:  Resize 40%/Duplicate/Mirror
Fog:  Resize 75%
Snow 3:  Resize 70%Duplicate
Flower:  Resize 10%/Duplicate/Mirror
Berries 5:  Resize 70%/Duplicate/70%/Duplicate/Mirror/Duplicate

Add your copyrights.

Add your name:
Color Pallet:
Foreground: #9e85a8
Background: #7c5239
Make your Text Tool active
Set the Stroke Width to 2.0
Type your name
Give it a slight Inner Bevel:



Highlight your white background.
New Raster layer.
Select All.
Copy and paste Paper 2 Into Selection.
Deselect.
Apply the mask.
Merge Group.

Highlight the branch layer.
Apply Eyecandy 5 – Nature – Snow Drift.
Settings Tab:
Small, First Flakes

Basic Tab:
 
OK

Highlight the merged frame layer.
Repeat the snow effect.

Copy Merged.

~Time to Animate~

Open up Animation Shop.
Edit/Paste/As New Animation.

Back in PSP.
Close out S1 layer.
Open up S2 layer.
Copy Merged.

Carry into AS.
Edit/Paste/After Current Frame.

Back in PSP.
Close out S2 layer.
Open up S3 layer.
Copy Merged.

Back in PSP.
Edit/Paste/After Current Frame.

Repeat the above steps until you have all 10 frames in AS.
View your animation.
Don’t panic if the snow is drifting upward!  If it is:
Ctrl + A (to highlight all frames)
Animation/Reverse Frames.
View your animation.
If you’re happy with it then save.
