Steampunk 2015


Supplies Needed

1 tube and 1 Image of choice – I used the artwork of Michael Calandra which can be purchased from CDO.  You must have a license to use.

Font of choice – I used FoglihtenNo07 here

~~ Let’s get started ~~

Open up the template.
Shift + D.
Close out the original.
Image/Canvas Size:
800 x 700
OK
Highlight the background layer and flood fill white.
Delete the top 4 layers, Dotted Oval layer, Plum Oval layer, Raster 1 layers, and Stars layer.

Highlight Pink Rectangle layer.
Click on it with your Magic Wand.
Copy and paste Paper 4 as a new layer above the template layer.
Right click your mouse on the layer in your layers pallet.
Choose “Promote Section to Layer” from the sub menu.
Delete the original paper layer.
Effects/Texture Effects/Straw Wall:
Match your settings to mine –

Apply the Straw Wall effect 3x’s.
Apply Brush Strokes – Sprayed Strokes:
Stroke Length: 12
Spray Radius: 7
Stroke Directions: Right Diagonal
OK
Deselect.
Delete the template layer.
Give it a slight Inner Bevel:

Open up Paper 4.
Use your Selection Tool set on Rectangle and section out an area of the green background in the paper.  I chose my area in the upper right hand corner of the paper.  Once you have it sectioned off, Copy.
DO NOT close this paper out or deselect the sectioned area – you’ll need it again in a little while.

Highlight Green Strips layer.
Click on each one with your Magic Wand.
New Raster layer.
Paste (the green paper section you copied) Into Selection.
Deselect.
Apply Brush Strokes – Crosshatch:
Stroke Length: 22
Sharpness: 6
Strength: 1
OK

Highlight Center Light Green Rectangle layer.
Click on it with your Magic Wand.
New Raster layer.
Copy and paste Paper 1 Into Selection.
Deselect.
Delete the template layer.
Give it the same slight Inner Bevel.

Copy again that small green section off of Paper 4.

Highlight Center White Rectangles layer.
Click anywhere outside of the template with your Magic Wand.
Selections/Invert
New Raster layer.
Paste (the green section from Paper 4) Into Selection.
Duplicate – Change the Properties to Multiply.
Merge Down.
Deselect.
Adjust/Add Remove Noise/Add Noise:
Gaussian and Monochrome checked
Noise: 30%
OK
Delete the template layer.

Highlight Center Green Rectangles layer.
Click on each rectangle with your Magic Wand.
New Raster layer.
Copy and paste Paper 5 Into Selection.
Apply Brush Strokes – Crosshatch:
Use same settings
Deselect for now.
Copy and paste your image as a new layer over the rectangles – I used the image from my tube.  If your image isn’t large enough to fit over all the rectangles and stretching it out a little won’t bother it, then tap the letter K on your keyboard to activate the Pick Tool and pull the image out so it reaches across all the rectangles.
Highlight the template layer and click on each rectangle with your Magic Wand.
Highlight the image layer and right click your mouse on it.
Choose “Promote Section to Layer”
Delete the original image layer.
Selections/Modify/Inside Outside Feather:
Both checked
Feather amount: 30
OK
Selections/Invert
Be sure your image layer is highlighted and tap the delete key until you have the feathered effect you like.
Deselect.
Delete the template layer.

Color Pallet:
Foreground: #ffffff
Background: #472500

Highlight White Frame Lines layer.
Make your Color Replacer Tool active.
Zoom in on the layer and double right click your mouse.  The lines should change to a dark brown color.  If areas stayed white just right click your mouse on those areas.

Copy and paste steampB5 (the big cog) as a new layer.
Resize 30%
Move into position – see my tag for reference.

Copy and paste your tube as a new layer.
If you need to feather your tube –
Make your Freehand Selection Tool active and circle around your tube, making sure the line touches the area you want feathered and keeping far away from areas you DON’T want feathered.
Selections/Invert
Selections/Modify/Inside Outside Feather:
Use the same settings
OK
Tap the delete key until you have the effect you want.
Deselect.

Add your elements.  I used:
E5:  Resize 3%
9:  Resize 10%/Duplicate/Free Rotate one Right 5 degrees, the other Left 3 degrees
Ornament 8:  Resize 12%/Use the Pick Tool to flatten it out a little/Free Rotate Right 43 degrees/Duplicate and match the ends up and merge down to make one continuous lines.  Duplicate.
5:  Resize 10%/Duplicate/Mirror
B2:  Resize 20%/Duplicate/Flip
D2:  Resize 30%/Duplicate

Highlight your white background.
New Raster layer.
Copy and paste your image as a new layer.
Apply Mura’s Meister – Copies:
Choose Wallpaper – Rotate:
Default Settings.
OK
Adjust/Blur/Gaussian Blur:
Radius: 10
OK
Apply the Mask.
Free Rotate the mask Right 90 degrees
Merge Group.

Add your copyrights.

Add your name.
Color Pallet:
Foreground: #472500
Background: Set to pattern/your tube Image and set the scale at 112.
Stroke: 1.0
Type your name.
Convert to Raster layer.
Apply Brush Strokes – Crosshatch:
Use same Settings.

Close out your white background.
Merge Visible.
Resize all layers to 500 pixels.
