Castle Pathway


 

Supplies Needed

1 tube of choice – I used the beautiful artwork of Sharon Hurst which can be purchased from My Tubed Art.  You must have a license to use.

Font of choice – I used Question and Love here

This tutorial was written assuming you have working knowledge of PSP. 

~~ Let’s get started ~~

Open up the template.
Shift + D.
Close out the original.
Delete the credit layer.
Image/Canvas Size:
800 x 600
Highlight the background layer and open it up.
Flood fill white.

Highlight 1.
Click on it with your Magic Wand.
New Raster layer.
Copy and paste Paper 11 Into Selection.
Deselect.
Delete the template layer.
Give the paper a slight Inner Bevel:

Highlight 2.
Repeat the above step.

Highlight 3.
Click on it with your Magic Wand.
New Raster layer.
Open up Paper 16.
Make your Selection Tool active set on Rectangle and section out the center of the paper.
Copy – DO NOT close this paper out.  You’ll need it again in a bit.
Make your working canvas active and Paste Into Selection.
Deselect.
Delete the template layer.
Give the paper the same slight Inner Bevel.

Highlight 4.
Click on it with your Magic Wand.
New Raster layer.
Open up Paper 12 and section our just the blue area of the paper.
Copy.
Make your working canvas active and Paste Into Selection.
Deselect.
Delete the template layer.
Give the paper the same slight Inner Bevel.

Highlight 5.
Click on it with your Magic Wand.
New Raster layer.
Copy and paste Paper 17 Into Selection.
Deselect.
DO NOT DELETE THE TEMPLATE LAYER.
Give the paper the same slight Inner Bevel.

Highlight 6.
Repeat the above step.

Copy and paste your tube as a new layer.
If you’re using the same tube as I did, resize 110%
Change the Opacity to Overlay and move into position over the paper that belongs to template 5.
Highlight 5.
Click on it with your Magic Wand.
Highlight the tube layer.
Right click your mouse on the layer and choose “Promote Section to Layer”.
Change the Properties of the promoted layer to Overlay.

Move the resized tube layer into a position you like over the paper that belongs to template 6.
Highlight 6.
Click on it with your Magic Wand.
Highlight the tube layer.
Right click your mouse on the layer and choose “Promote Section to Layer”.
Change the Properties of the promoted layer to Overlay.

Delete the resized tube layer.
Delete template layers 5 and 6.

Highlight 7.
Click on it with your Magic Wand.
New Raster layer.
Copy and paste Paper 14 Into Selection.
Deselect.
Delete the template layer.
Give the paper the same slight Inner Bevel.

Highlight 8.
Click on it with your Magic Wand.
New Raster layer.
Copy and paste Paper 11 Into Selection.
Copy and paste element 120 as a new layer over the paper and move into position – see my tag for reference.
Change the properties of the element to Overlay.
Selections/Invert
Tap the delete key.
Deselect.
Duplicate the element layer.

Copy and paste your tube as a new layer.
Position it in front of the center circle.

Color Pallet:
Foreground: #07409d
Background: #b1adef
Set the foreground to Gradient:
Style: Linear
Angle: 17
Repeat: 2
Invert checked
OK

Copy and paste 26 as a new layer.
Resize 15%
Click anywhere outside of it with you Magic Wand.
Selections/Invert
New Raster layer.
Flood fill with the gradient.
Change the Properties of the gradient to Overlay.
Deselect.
Merge Visible the gradient layer and butterfly layer.
Duplicate the merged layer 2x’s
Mirror both small butterflies
Resize one of them 70% and the other 60%.

Copy and paste 42 as a new layer.
Resize 70%
Click anywhere outside of it with your Magic Wand.
Selections/Invert
New Raster layer.
Flood fill with #07409d
Change the Properties to Overlay.
Merge Visible.

Add your elements.  I used:
29: Duplicate/Mirror/Flip
58:  Resize 10%/Duplicate/Resize 70%/Mirror/Duplicate (Duplicate/Mirror all 3 flowers)
1:  Resize 40%/Duplicate/Mirror
30:  Resize 60%
20
9:  Resize 25%/Duplicate/Mirror

Highlight your white background.
Select All.
Copy and paste Paper 16 (the area you sectioned off) Into Selection.
Deselect.
Apply the mask.
Resize 105%
Merge Group.
Duplicate/Lower the Opacity to 59.

Add your copyrights.

Add your name.
Foreground: #000000
 Background: Pattern/Paper 14
Type your name.
Give it a slight Inner Bevel:

Make your Freehand Selection Tool active and change the Feather setting to 25.
Section off the bottom 1/3 of your name.
The dotted circle should have turned really big – it’s supposed to!
Shift + B – (to activate the Brightness/Contrast box).
Match your settings to mine:

OK
DO NOT deselect.
Adjust/Add Remove Noise/Add Noise:
Random & Monochrome checked
Noise: 60%
OK
Deselect.

Resize all layers 80%.

This tutorial was written assuming you have working knowledge of PSP. 

~~ Let’s get started ~~

Open up the template.
Shift + D.
Close out the original.
Delete the top 4 layers, Bottom Web, and Top Web.
Image/Canvas Size:
800 x 700
OK
Highlight the background layer.
Flood fill white.

Highlight Orange Circle layer.
Copy and paste EL 17 as a new layer.
Move the element into position over the circle layer.
Delete the template layer.

Highlight Green Strip layer.
Click on it with your Magic Wand.
New Raster layer.
Copy and paste Paper 2 Into Selection.
Deselect.
Delete the template layer.

Highlight Blue Strip layer.
Repeat the above step.

Highlight Purple Rectangle layer.
Click on it with your Magic Wand.
New Raster layer.
Copy and paste Paper 19 Into Selection.
Deselect.
Delete the template layer.
Give the paper a slight Inner Bevel:

Highlight Green Square.
Click on it with your Magic Wand.
New Raster layer.
Copy and paste Paper 6 Into Selection.
New Raster layer.
Copy and paste Paper 9 Into Selection.
Change the Properties to Multiply.
Deselect.
Merge Down – both papers should now be a single paper on the same layer.
Give it the same slight Inner Bevel.
Delete the template layer.

Highlight Purple Square.
Repeat the above step.

Highlight Left Orange Square layer.
Click on it with your Magic Wand,
New Raster layer.
Copy and paste Paper 15 Into Selection.
Deselect.
DO NOT DELETE THE TEMPLATE LAYER.
Give the paper the same slight Inner Bevel.

Repeat the above step with –
Left Orange Rectangle and Right Orange Square and Blue Oval.
DO NOT DELETE THE TEMPLATE LAYERS.

Highlight Green Oval Outline.
Click on it with your Magic Wand.
New Raster layer.
Copy and paste Paper 1 Into Selection.
Deselect.
Delete the template layer.
Give the paper a slight Inner Bevel:

Highlight the little square on the right.
Copy and paste EL 73 as a new layer and change the Properties to Overlay.
Highlight Right Orange Square template layer.
Click on it with your Magic Wand.
Highlight the Owl element layer and move into a position you like over the paper.
In your layers pallet, right click your mouse on the owl element – choose “Promote Section to Layer”
Delete the original element layer.
Change the Properties of the Promoted layer to Overlay.
Deselect.
Delete the template layer.

In your layers pallet move Left Orange Square layer just below Left Orange Rectangle layer.
Highlight Left Orange Rectangle layer.
Merge Down.
Both should now be on the same layer.
Copy and paste your tube as a new layer over the paper layer of these shapes.  If you’re using the same tube as I did, mirror the tube.
Highlight the merged template layer.  Click on each of the shapes.
Change the Properties of the tube to Soft Light and move into a position you like.
Right click your mouse in your layers pallet and choose “Promote Section to Layer”
Delete the original tube layer.
Change the Properties of the Promoted tube to Soft Light.
Deselect.
Delete the merged template layer.

Copy and paste your tube as a new layer.
If you’re using the same tube as I did, resize 70%.

Add your elements.  I used:
EL 130
EL 134:  Resize 25%/Duplicate/Mirror
EL 62:  Resize 65%/Duplicate/Mirror
EL 144:  Resize 50%
EL 90:  Resize 50%
EL 32:  Resize 40%/Duplicate/Mirror/Free Rotate Right 35 degrees
El 14:  Resize 50%/Erase the stem/Duplicate/Mirror
EL 47:  Duplicate/Mirror
EL 145:  Resize 50%/Free Rotate Left 80%/Duplicate/Flip
EL 50:  Resize 50%
EL 165:  Resize 35%
EL 67:  Resize 25%
EL 169:  Resize 25%/Duplicate/Resize 70%/Flip/Duplicate/Resize 80%/Duplicate

Add your copyrights.

Add your name:
Color Pallet:
Foreground: #0e0e03
Background: #800000
Make your Text Tool active
Set the Stroke Width to 1.
Type your name
Give it a slight Inner Bevel:

Highlight your white background.
New Raster layer.
Select All.
Copy and paste Paper 1 Into Selection.
Deselect.
Apply the mask.
Resize 110%
Merge Group.
Duplicate
